We take the personal nature of scholarship applications seriously, especially when applicants choose to discuss their experience with cancer.

What we collect
For scholarship applications, we collect the contact details, education information, eligibility confirmations, and written responses that applicants provide. We do not require specific diagnosis or treatment histories in the initial application. Applicants are asked not to include unnecessary sensitive medical information.
Why we collect it
Information is used to administer the scholarship program, communicate with applicants, assess eligibility, review submissions, and manage awards.
Application platform and service providers
Scholarship responses are submitted through Tally. Authorized foundation representatives and service providers may access information where needed for scholarship administration, subject to applicable service terms and access controls.
AI-assisted application review
The foundation may use tools such as ChatGPT to help organize, summarize, and evaluate written responses against a consistent scholarship rubric. Names and other direct identifiers will be removed where practicable before AI-assisted review, although written responses can still contain personally identifying details. AI-generated evaluations are advisory; foundation representatives make all final scholarship decisions. The foundation intends to use service configurations that limit training on submitted information, subject to the actual settings and terms in effect.
Sharing, publication, and retention
Applicant information is not sold and is not used for unrelated marketing without separate permission. Public use of a student’s personal story, photograph, or medical information requires separate authorization. We retain information only as reasonably needed to administer the program and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. A specific retention schedule will be finalized before launch.
