HARVEY SIMON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Your story. Your future. Your next chapter.
Apply for scholarship consideration for the 2027–2028 academic year. Our approach values reflection, purpose, and initiative—not a grade-point cutoff.
Who can apply
- You have personally received a cancer diagnosis at some point in your life.
- You expect to be enrolled in Fall 2027 and/or Spring 2028 at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university, or an eligible graduate program. Enrollment in either semester qualifies; both semesters are not required.
- You have not previously received the Harvey Simon Memorial Scholarship.
- You can provide truthful, original responses and attest to eligibility.
There is no minimum GPA requirement, and financial need is not used to evaluate applications. A student’s perspective and potential matter more than conventional credentials.

How applications are considered
The foundation uses a consistent evaluation rubric: personal perspective and reflection (40%), future goals and motivation (35%), and initiative and contributions (25%). Formal leadership titles and extensive extracurricular activities are not required. AI-assisted review may help organize and assess submissions, but the scholarship committee makes final decisions.
Your words matter
Written responses must be your own. Generative AI may not create, draft, rewrite, or substantially edit scholarship essays. Ordinary spelling and grammar correction and non-generative accessibility tools are permitted. Finalists may be asked to clarify their responses.
Before you apply
Please review the applicant privacy notice. You do not need to disclose detailed diagnosis or treatment information. The application deadline is January 31, 2027. Award amounts will be announced by the foundation..
